Project symposium ‘Qualification agents in the Rhenish mining area’
The far-reaching structural change in the Rhenish mining area confronted both companies and the labour force with considerable difficulties. What training initiatives were needed to successfully manage this change? This was the core question of the renowned conference ‘Qualification Agents in the Rhenish Mining Area - Tracking Opportunities through Education’, which took place on 11 April 2025 at the Bonn Science Centre. The conference provided a detailed overview of the project's implementation to date and focussed on the further development of advisory services for qualification for employees and companies in the region.
The event brought together leading figures from the fields of science, industry, public administration and labour market policy. A highlight was the panel discussion with entrepreneurs from the Rhenish mining area, including representatives from TV & Solar Hartit (Bergheim), EG Erft Getränkehandel GmbH (Kerpen) and Humintech GmbH (Grevenbroich).
They shared their direct experiences and discussed the challenges and opportunities of structural change, particularly with regard to securing the labour force through targeted further training measures.
Another focus of the conference was on the importance of migrant organisations as mediators in qualification work. In addition, Heinrich Thiel (Grevenbroich Economic Development Agency) and Ralf Holtkötter (Brühl Employment Agency) discussed the current challenges of transformation and the available support services for companies.
Mr Cengiz, Managing Director of Humintech GmbH, and Ms Christiane Schumacher, Head of Human Resources, took part in the conference because together we are striving to improve educational opportunities in the Rhenish mining area and promote the integration of migrants.
Humintech is known for its multicultural workforce, which is made up of employees from 18 different nations and is characterised by a wide range of language skills. This cultural diversity and extensive experience in dealing with migration issues and integration into the labour market has earned the company several prestigious awards.
