SEED TREATMENT
The seed treatment assumes that the seed put into the earth for germination purposes, can carry active substances, able to positively affect the ecological niche where the embryo will grow. The substances used at present for the seed treatment have been mainly formulated, in order to protect the seed from microbial and fungal attacks.
If humic active substances are added to these substances, the seed is protected, but at the same time, there is an activation - at embryonic level - of those metabolic and enzymatic processes that, if suitably driven, may assure a better and more immediate development of the embryo-plant. There is no input more cost-effective than a well-formulated seed treatment, because providing a balanced nutrient package for the seed can be the “mother milk” of plant production. The mineral requirements at germination may be minuscule, but the beauty of seed feeding relates to these low inputs. A handful of small change can kick-start a crop so efficiently that only serious nutrition mismanagement later in the crop can prevent substantial yield increases (based on this early momentum).
Seed treatment with humic acids – double security
The technology used in the production of coated seed is a procedure which requires a lot of experience, time and instinct. Furthermore macronutrients and micronutrients are elementary components of a finely coordinated combination of different materials. Humic acids are introduced in a highly concentrated form which has 2 steps in the process. Firstly they are brought directly into contact with the seeds and are then integrated again at a later stage in the outer layer of the coating.
Humic acids come into direct contact with the seeds, before they are coated with several nutritious layers. The grain is subjected to an intensive treatment (vaccination) with a highly concentrated humic acid solution. This method has the following effects:
Seed treatment with humic acids have following effects:
Results in field experiments:
The best results were with the fulvic acid fraction produced by a new method which preserves the potency of the organic components of the fulvic acid fraction. By this method certain compounds in humates that are negative growth factors when applied to the seed are removed. The extract we supply for seed treatment meets organic standards and is not extracted with acids or alkaline chemicals of any kind. The product is so low in heavy metals, that it can be used for nutritional purposes, in livestock of course.
The treatment of the seeds with diluted humate solution stimulates the cell membranes as well as the metabolic activities and thereby increases the germ rate. In this early and important phase of the plant growth humic acids promote root development, support enhanced nutrition uptake and healthy plant development.
Seed Treatments – humic acids improve the germination rate and the formation of roots.
