Probiotics are the various types of bacteria that positively influence and support digestion in the intestine. Enormous amounts of probiotic bacteria are very often added to probiotic products or animal feed, so that they can penetrate into the intestinal flora and ensure better digestion. The term itself means as much as “pro/for life”. Typical probiotic organisms are lactobacilli, bifidobacteria, and streptococcus as well as some yeast and mold fungi.
