Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by fungi such as molds. They already have a toxic effect on vertebrate animals in the smallest quantities. A disease caused by mycotoxins is called mycotoxicoses. The toxic substances of macro fungi are referred to as fungal toxins.
