Mulch

Mulch (Medium High German mul = decaying soil, dust) is indecomposable organic material that gardeners and farmers apply to small or large surfaces of soil; this process is called mulching. In agriculture, landscaping and horticulture, mulching can also mean mowing and simultaneously clipping the grass or shredding the crop. Regular mulching is important for long-term soil fertility and optimum soil conditions.
